Maldives, Winter 2019

« From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders. He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free. » (Jacques Yves Cousteau).

San Francisco, Fall 2019

It is always special to be back in SFO. Business always has a special taste here. Can not help but remember Rudyard Kipling saying « San Francisco is a mad city – inhabited for the most part by perfectly insane people whose women are of a remarkable beauty. » But he also said « If you can keep your wits about you while all others are losing theirs, and blaming you. The world will be yours and everything in it, what’s more, you’ll be a man, my son. », so I guess we can excuse him.

Seychelles, Spring 2019

Seychelles was the land of pirates, in particular Anse Forbans (Pirate’s Cove). The pirates used to seek the islands as a hideout; it is believed that a treasure worth more than $160,000 was hidden by Olivier Levasseur at the time. It hasn’t been discovered yet.

Shanghai, Summer 2019

« To my child’s eyes, which had seen nothing else, Shanghai was a waking dream where everything I could imagine had already been taken to its extreme. » J. G. Ballard

Paris, Winter 2019

“If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.” (Ernest Hemingway). I can’t agree more with my fellow Cuban-lover, that walk in Saint-Germain des Près was a feast not just because of Halloween.

Canada, Fall 2019

“Canada has two emblems – the beaver and the maple” John W. Dawson

India, Summer 2019

The Pink City of Jaipur got UNESCO World Heritage tag. It serves as the capital city of the culturally-so-rich state of Rajasthan. UNESCO said: “The city was proposed to be nominated for its value of being an exemplary development in town planning and architecture…in town planning, it shows an interchange of ancient Hindu and contemporary Western ideas that resulted in the form of the city.”. Lovers of Washington DC architecture would certainly appreciate this place.
